SEVEN STEPS TO
BILBLICAL PROBLEM SOLVING
Below are seven steps that were
taught by our pastor at Calvary
Bible Church.
I have found them to be very useful in working through any problem that life
would throw at me, although I have found that determining what the problem is
can be the most difficult step.
* PRAY ASKING FOR GODS GUIDANCE (This should be the
first step in any situation)*
1.
DEFINE THE PROBLEM OR CRISIS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH AN
THE CULTURAL SETTINGS
(What is the Problem?)
2.
IDENTIFY PREUNERSTANDINGS AND DISPOSITUIONS TOWARDS PARTICULAR SOLUTIONS (What
do you think the solution should be?)
3.
LIST AND EXEGETE THE APPROPRIATE BIBLICAL TEXTS (Find and list all the biblical
passages that apply to the problem at hand)
4.
REFLECT ON THE PROBLEM AND TEXTS FROM EVERY APPROPRIATE CONTEXT OF THEOLOGY
(Think about the problem and what the scriptures are saying, keeping your mind
open to God and His word.)
5.
SEEK TO EXPERIENCE DISCLOSURE AFTER YOU HAVE REFLECTED ON THE TEXT FROM ALL
PERSPECTIVES IN ORDER TO TRANSEND AND EXPAND PREUNDERSTANDINGS (Has this
changed your preunderstandings as stated in step 2?)
6.
FORMULATE AND APPROPRIATE BIBLICAL PRACTICE INCLUDING STATEGIES FOR INACTMENT
(What does the bible say you should do?)
7.
COMMUNICATE AND ENACT THE PRACTICE (Do what the bible says you should do.)
